Commercial electrical work for Melbourne businesses

Shop fit-outs, office electrical, restaurant kitchens, warehouse and industrial. 200+ projects completed since 2008.

Commercial retail electrical fit-out completed by Elecool Electrical at Sephora Melbourne

We've completed more than 200 commercial fit-outs across Melbourne since 2008 — fashion boutiques on Chapel Street, cafés along Glenferrie Road, corporate offices in Collins Street, warehouses out in Richmond. We understand business timelines, retail trading hours, and the cost of every minute your doors are closed.

Commercial electrical specialisations

We work directly with shop fitters, builders, architects, property managers and business owners. Retail electrical, including LED track lighting, point-of-sale power, security and signage. Office electrical, including open-plan layouts, workstation power and data, meeting-room AV, and server-room cooling. Hospitality, including three-phase commercial kitchen power, exhaust electrical, cool rooms and bar setups. Warehouse and industrial, including high-bay LED, three-phase distribution and switchboard upgrades.

How we keep your business trading

We schedule disruptive work outside trading hours — evenings, overnight, weekends and public holidays if required. We stage larger projects to keep parts of the business operating while we work on others. We coordinate tightly with shopfitters and other trades so the electrical work never blocks the critical path. And we provide daily progress updates on multi-day projects.

Every commercial job comes with full documentation: electrical plans, as-built drawings, Certificates of Electrical Safety, compliance reports, and warranty paperwork. You'll have everything you need for your occupancy certificate and insurance.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Ask the team
What size commercial jobs do you take on?
Anything from a single power point swap in a tenancy to a full fit-out of a 450m² office. Most of our work falls between $5,000 and $80,000 in electrical scope. For very large projects (over $200K) we can scale up the crew with vetted partners we've worked with for years.
Do you work outside business hours?
Yes — most retail and hospitality fit-outs we do are after hours. We regularly work evenings (6pm onwards), overnight, weekends, and public holidays. Quoted hourly rates account for this; you don't pay a premium for after-hours work on a quoted job.
What's included in a commercial electrical quote?
Itemised labour, all materials, compliance testing and certification, electrical plans (if required), project management, cleanup and GST. Excluded unless specifically quoted: council permits and scissor-lift/boom-lift hire if needed for high-ceiling work.
How quickly can you start a commercial project?
Site visit within 48 hours of enquiry. Detailed quote within 3–5 business days. Once approved, we can usually start within 1–2 weeks for medium projects and 3–4 weeks for larger ones. Urgent? Tell us — we keep some capacity for fast turnarounds.
Do you handle the council permits and Energy Safe Victoria paperwork?
Yes. For any prescribed work, we register the job with Energy Safe Victoria and provide the Certificate of Electrical Safety. Council electrical permits (if required for the work scope) we can arrange and the fees go through at cost.
Can you provide ongoing commercial maintenance?
Yes. Many of our commercial clients hold annual maintenance contracts with us — fixed-fee test-and-tag, emergency lighting checks (AS 2293), thermal switchboard inspections, and priority emergency response. Sensible for any business where downtime costs money.
Do you carry the right insurance for commercial work?
Yes — $20 million public liability insurance, professional indemnity, and workers compensation. Insurance certificates are issued for your records before work commences. Most landlords and shopping centre managers will need to see them.
Have you worked on shop fit-outs in shopping centres?
Many times. We're familiar with shopping centre fit-out manuals, tenancy electrical drawings, after-hours access procedures, and the centre-management approval processes for Chadstone, Doncaster, Westfield, and others. Bring us in early and we'll handle the centre liaison.
