Split system air conditioning across South East Melbourne

Reverse-cycle split systems sized for your space, installed by A-grade licensed electricians — not third-party subcontractors.

Daikin inverter split-system air conditioning installed by Elecool Electrical Melbourne

Air conditioning installation is electrical work first and HVAC work second. Done well, a split system runs quietly for 15 years on the same circuit. Done badly, it trips your switchboard, runs your bill up, and burns out in five. Elecool installs Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Panasonic and other top-tier reverse-cycle systems sized correctly for your room and your home's electrical supply.

Choosing the right system for your space

Sizing matters more than brand. An undersized unit runs flat out and never reaches set temperature. An oversized unit short-cycles, wastes energy, and dries the air. We measure the room, account for windows, insulation and orientation, and recommend a capacity that suits — typically 2.5kW for a bedroom, 5–6kW for an open-plan living area, 7–8kW for larger spaces.

Installation, electrical and warranty

Every install includes a dedicated circuit from the switchboard if required, proper outdoor unit mounting (concrete pad or wall bracket rated for the unit weight), refrigerant pipe runs concealed where possible, condensate drainage to an approved point, and a tagged isolator at the outdoor unit. Manufacturers' warranties stay valid because we follow the install specifications exactly.

Our workmanship warranty is 12 months. The compressor and parts warranty depends on the manufacturer — Daikin and Mitsubishi typically offer 5 years parts, 5 years labour on the compressor for properly installed units.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Ask the team
What size air conditioner do I need?
Roughly: 2.5kW for a small bedroom, 3.5kW for a master bedroom, 5kW for a 4x4m living area, 6–7kW for an open-plan living-dining-kitchen, 8–9kW for larger great rooms. We measure and check ceiling height, window glazing and insulation before recommending a final size.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
Supply-and-install for a quality 2.5kW unit (Daikin/Mitsubishi) starts around $1,800. 5kW around $2,400. 7kW around $2,900. Multi-head systems (one outdoor unit feeding multiple indoor heads) start around $4,500. Quotes are fixed-price after the site visit.
What brand of air conditioner do you recommend?
For longevity and quiet operation, Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric are the picks. Both have 5-year compressor warranties and a long track record in Melbourne homes. Fujitsu is a strong second-tier. We can install any major brand — tell us your preference and we'll quote it.
Do you install ducted air conditioning?
We specialise in split systems and multi-heads. For ducted refrigerated systems we partner with a vetted HVAC team and handle all the electrical side end-to-end. Ducting is a different trade and we'd rather refer to specialists than do it half-right.
How long does an installation take?
A standard single-head wall split install takes 4–6 hours. Multi-head systems are usually a full day. We typically book installs in the morning so the system is running by mid-afternoon — useful in summer.
Do I need a dedicated circuit for my air conditioner?
Most modern split systems require their own dedicated circuit at the switchboard with an RCD/RCBO. We include this in every quote — if your board has the spare capacity, it's a quick add. If not, we'll talk through whether a small upgrade makes sense.
Can you service or repair my existing system?
Yes — for the electrical side (isolator, circuit, condensate pump, controls). For refrigerant gas-related work (regassing, gas leak diagnosis) we hold the ARC licence and can handle it. Compressor failures we'll quote on a case-by-case basis.
What happens to the old unit when you install a new one?
We remove and dispose of it as part of the install. Old units get the refrigerant recovered (legally required) and the metal recycled. Add-on cost is typically $80–$150 depending on access — included in the quote.
